Bellingham & Wirtz as SYNERGIZING leaders

„A leader – like Bellingham and Wirtz – „brings what is needed“ = together.

“I want us to have a together culture” – the MANAGER told the team picked for Euro 2024, and then he told everyone how he wanted it to happen.

When the LEADER met the team he expressed it a bit differently – “we should try our best to work towards winning with a together culture, what do YOU say – and, how do WE do that”?

= It is not the words of WHAT that matter – but the actions of HOW.

Bellingham – someone said on TV – in the half-time show – the other night – “brings what is needed to the game” (as does Wirtz, Mcginn, Xhaka, Modric, Eriksson – the list goes on) = the Synergizing leader (in behaviour).

A synergizing leader is someone who`s the team’s heart and brain – in behaviour, not necessarily in presence outside the game, but in the defining situation of the games – at work – in life = TOGETHER with the others.

There ARE a group of I`s in a team – all being, wanting, the SAME = unique – how each of them behaves TOGETHER is the difference in the end.

In the Euro 2024 teams – some of them (synergizing leaders) you SEE clearer than others – I suggest, in this text – try looking for the players that ALWAYS adds something, together – and you`ll see – the team with the most “synergizing leaders” in the group of players – is the one standing on the winning podium after the final is played.

When Germany won 5-1 in the opening game of the Euro 2024 the news outlets quickly started to talk about a revolution. And the revolutionary thing – was communicated as – NOW the manager talked to the players about the roles they were supposed to fill out – on the field and off. ON the pitch some specifics were started to be drilled in months before and OFF the pitch there were clear role definitions for EVERYONE. Those who did not start the games, the reserves were expected to behave in a certain way, AS all players on the pitch.
SURELY that was NOT the revolution – oder (as they say here in Germany) OR?
All culture theories “talk about the same things that are needed in a culture”— a common cause – a together behaviour – a process-oriented – learning based growth.
= Align and grow – together. Well, yes. But how?

SYNERGIZE. It`s a mindset – a together behaviour.

When the manager TALK about a “together culture” – then ACT ALONE = alone culture.

The leader sets themselves out – compared to the manager – by then ACTING together = how do WE do that?

WHAT you do does not matter – HOW you do – does!

The seeming revolution – that is creeping into German football – might be the basic insight – that HOW you BEHAVE is all that matters. In the end – together is something everybody needs to WANT – and together is NOT something you DO alone.
